Soil Plate Load Test

 Scope:                                                                

For designing shallow foundation to determine the bearing capacity of the ground soil and it's settlement.

 Short procedure                                            

 1.Excavate the pit.(size -5 times the size of the test plate ) 

 2.At the centre of the pit ,a small hole or depression is created.The depth of the hole is created such that ratio of the depth to width of the hole is equal to the ratio of the actual depth to the actual width of the foundation.

 3.A steel plate used as a load bearing plate and it's thickness shall be at least 25mm.(size-300 to 750mm).

 4.A load is transferred to the plate through the centrally placed column .it can be transferred to the column either gravity or by truss loading method.
 
 5.The load applied through the hydraulic jack & increased gradually and is noted from fixed pressure gauge. 

 6.Note the readings(settlement) for each increased loads in a tabular form. 

 7.After the collection of data for the first load, the next load increment is applied and readings noted under new load.
